Suppliers are expected to understand and embrace our values in conducting business with Genentech and the supplier's partners.
Ethics Suppliers play an important part in our success, and we believe that our suppliers value Genentech as a customer. As such, we request that, in the course of conducting business with Genentech, suppliers refrain from conduct that is outside our ethical boundaries. We expect our suppliers to practice the following ethical standards:
- Avoid the intent or appearance of unethical or compromising conduct.
- Avoid personal or business activity that could create a conflict of interest.
- Protect confidential or proprietary information provided by Genentech.
- Do not seek information about other Genentech suppliers, their prices, services, performance, etc.
- Use the appropriate communication channels within Genentech.
- Do not provide gifts or entertainment of more than minimal value.
Genentech's Procurement Department Focus Procurement's focus is on minimizing the cost of acquisition of the goods and services while maximizing the efficiency of acquiring the goods and services and optimizing the quality of the goods and services.
Procurement strives to provide a consistently high level of customer service to internal clients, our requesters, and is committed to the highest ethical standards in our supplier relationships. Our focus is on developing long-term, mutually beneficial relationships with our key suppliers. Our preferred suppliers are those who provide quality products and excellent customer service at fair prices. We encourage and facilitate the beneficial interaction between suppliers and Genentech to promote the exchange of valuable information.
Expectations of Suppliers The following is what Genentech practices, and we expect that our suppliers will do the same with their own supplier base:
Do what you say you will do. Genentech expects all Suppliers to "do what you say you will do" in all interactions. This is an internal and external behavioral expectation at Genentech and is a standard among Class A companies.
Silence is approval. All Suppliers are expected to adopt the "silence is approval" methodology in regards to supplier scheduling and purchase order (PO) due dates. Suppliers will notify buyers in advance if a due date will be missed on a delivery schedule and/or purchase order.
