MBA Internships The Genentech MBA Internship Program is an intensive 10-12 week opportunity to work within a fast-paced and challenging environment. MBA interns contribute to meaningful projects, interacting and working side-by-side with biotech industry experts. Our internship program also provides a robust speaker series, including top executives, throughout the summer. Genentech relies heavily on our internship talent pool for our full-time opportunities.

Program Highlights

  • Interns will work closely with professionals on projects, present project findings, experience career development and engage in networking activities with our internship community.
  • Upon completion of your internship, you will join our prestigious alumni network of successful interns.
  • Eligible interns will have opportunities to be considered for full-time positions with Genentech.
  • Our internships are located at our headquarters in South San Francisco, CA, and our facilities in Vacaville and Oceanside, CA.
  • Genentech provides a flexible and diverse work environment for our interns and employees.
  • Eligible interns receive relocation assistance.
  • Genentech interns are eligible for our world-class benefits package with the exception of our Corporate Bonus Program and sabbatical accrual.

Application Process

  • All applicants will receive email notification that their information was received.
  • Qualified candidates of interest will be notified directly by the hiring manager.
  • Internship opportunities are posted at select universities; annual application deadlines are included in posted opportunities.
  • Genentech recruits on university campuses during the fall and spring sessions. To determine if Genentech is attending your school, research Genentech recruitment dates via your career center, department site, AfterCollege.com or recruiting venues on your campus.
  • Requirements: Students must be enrolled as a full-time graduate student in an accredited MBA program at the time of internship participation and have solid academic standing (GPA = 3.0 or above).
  • Preferred qualifications include, but are not limited to: 3-5 years of professional marketing, sales, consulting or finance experience in the biopharma or healthcare industries prior to enrollment in graduate program.

Sample MBA Project Descriptions

  • Assess, create and forecast new market opportunities for Genentech research projects and business development; evaluate market landscape to predict trends and provide recommendations on program development and product differentiation strategies.
  • Develop medical education, product promotions and strategies on our product management brand teams within our BioOncology, Immunology, and Tissue Growth and Repair business units.
  • Budget, forecast and develop reporting and financial modeling for key initiatives within Finance, the Development Teams and for external Collaborators.
