Program Description Training and Benefits Assisted by their mentors at Genentech, Clinical Research Fellows are expected to:
- Secure a mentor from their academic institution;
- Design a clinical research project in their area of interest;
- Complete the research project within the one-year program;
- Contribute to abstracts or manuscripts for publication;
- Participate in relevant internal and external Genentech meetings; and
- Participate in one half-day of patient care responsibilities.
At the conclusion of their one-year Fellowship, participants will be requested to present their data to an internal peer review group.
Training
During their Fellowship at Genentech, Fellows are expected to:
- Take Genentech’s 100- and 200-level Clinical Science training courses;
- Participate in weekly Clinical Science meetings related to their project(s);
- Participate in the monthly cross-functional Fellows Forum;
- Participate in additional relevant Genentech training opportunities that arise throughout the year; and
- Complete Genentech Standard Operating Procedure training modules.
Salary and Benefits
For their participation, Genentech Clinical Research Fellows are paid approximately $60,000.

Genentech will pay Fellows’ registration fees and related travel expenses to professional meetings. Fellows and their Genentech mentors select which meetings are worthwhile and appropriate to attend. Mentors have final approval for all selections.

Relocation Genentech offers non-financial temporary relocation assistance to Clinical Research Fellows who reside outside of the San Francisco Bay Area. We do not subsidize the costs of temporary relocation requirements, such as moving, housing, local transportation or personal airline travel. However, we gladly provide information and guidance to assist with temporary relocation arrangements.
