I joined Genentech in April 1998 as Senior Pathologist after completion of my training as hematopathologist at The University of Chicago. I decided on this professional route because Genentech offered a way to apply my clinical training to basic and translational disease-focused research in a world-class facility among cutting edge scientists. I spent 2008 at MD Anderson to refresh my clinical skills. For the last few years I have been involved in efforts developing cancer immunotherapy approaches for clinical use. Genentech has changed a lot since I joined, but one vital constant is a collaborative team approach to science-based drug development.
