I joined Genentech at the end of 2017 following postdoctoral work in structural biology and biochemistry at Harvard Medical School, and a PhD at Vanderbilt University. My interests have always been at the intersection of basic biomedical research and drug discovery. I was thrilled to have found such an ideal environment for those pursuits at Genentech, where scientists with deep expertise from every background, unite to overcome the challenges of drug discovery. Genentech is unique in industry in its level of commitment to conducting the kinds of basic research that enable the discovery and development of new therapies that impact the lives of patients around the world.
Postdoctoral Mentor
My love of and commitment to mentoring is longstanding, and over the course of my career I have been fortunate to mentor many wonderful, dedicated and successful interns, graduate students, visiting scholars and post-doctoral Fellows. Of all the many excellent institutions at which I have had the privilege to pursue science, the Structural Biology Department at Genentech is among the most scientifically stimulating and engaging mentoring hubs I have encountered. The highly collaborative, unrivaled expertise, state-of-the-art technology and resources, provides a unique opportunity for ambitious and talented postdocs to tackle the most challenging scientific questions from basic research to drug discovery, to develop and make an impact.
